We’re thrilled to release our Heavy Bloom line for the upcoming 2026 season. This breeding group was selected for hens that lay deep, chocolate-colored eggs often topped with a soft, hazy β€œbloom” coating that can range from in shades from mauve, purple, periwinkle and dusty rose.

These are from our purebred black copper marans. We have the heavy blooms carriers set up in a separate coop with their very own rooster.

Our current rooster hatched from a beautiful level 8 egg with a heavy bloom, so the genetics are in place for that beautiful finishβ€”though nature will always add her own touch.

Important: Not every egg will show a bloom, as the trait can vary between hens and across the laying cycle. You’ll receive 6 hatching eggs from this pairing. Orders are limited to one set per customer; any additional sets will be refunded and cancelled. You will be refunded the total MINUS the credit card fee.

Please review our shipping policies prior to making a purchase.

πŸ“¦ Return & Refund Policy – Hatching Eggs

Due to the nature of hatching eggs, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or offer refunds once your order has been shipped, or after 24 hours from purchase. If you do need to cancel your order within 24 hours of purchase, you’ll be issued a store credit for future use. We guarantee that all eggs are fresh and fertile at the time of shipping. We do not replace or refund broken eggs, please file a claim with USPS. Please remember that just because an egg did not develop during incubation, DOES NOT MEAN it was not fertile. So many factors can play a role in hatch rate and development.

Fertility is regularly monitored from each breeding pen to ensure roosters are actively doing their job. That said, once eggs are handed off to USPS, we are no longer responsible for their handling, delays, or damage. Standard shipping is via USPS Priority Mail (1–3 days) and includes $100 of insurance (shipping fees are not covered under this insurance).

If your package arrives damaged, please:

  • Take clear photos of the box, packaging, and any broken eggs

Inspect your package immediately upon pickup

  • File a damage claim with USPS online (damage only, not shipping delays)

  • Send us pictures and video evidence within 24 hours of arrival

Please remember: Hatching eggs are always a gamble. We cannot guarantee hatch rates or how USPS handles the eggs during transit.

If we are unable to fulfill your order for any reason on our end, you will receive a refund. For any concerns, feel free to contact us via email or Facebook.

Black Copper Marans
from $55.00

Shipping will start in March and go through June. You’ll receive an email confirmation when your order ships, as well as a email or text the Sunday before shipment. I ship eggs on Monday, Tuesday (Northeast), Friday and Saturday Chicks are only shipped Mondays. Although USPS delivery is closed Sunday, they’re still moving product through to destinations.

Black Copper Marans are prized for their deep, chocolate-brown eggs, often with natural speckling and a rich, glossy finish. Our two pens consists of 16 hens per, covered by two roosters hatched from level 8 & 9 eggs. You will receive a variety of colors from dark to speckled based on what’s available on your shipping day. We DO send our darkest eggs, always.

We strive to breed for SOP in all of our birds to the best of our ability. Marans eggs naturally fade. We try our best to get you the darkest eggs. Black Copper Marans β€œrun out of ink” as they get deeper into the laying season, but they still have the dark-laying gene and pass that on to the next generation. Our hens lay in the range of 6-9 on the Marans scale.

Some faults in our birds we are working on are higher set tails. We have many hens with lower set tails to hopefully breed towards a better SOP. We have consistent rich copper coloring in our males. Our females have great copper coloring as well, with only about 10% being over melanized. 2/4 of our boys show a single white feather on their tail.

We will not take requests of β€œplease send me all your darkest eggs”. A marans pigmentation varies throughout laying season, so a hen that lays a 8 one day, could lay a 5 the next day. Our line is bred for dark eggs, so you will have that potential. That being said, you are not guaranteed to have all hens who lay dark. We heavy cull in our program and only keep our darkest layers, but the offspring is not guaranteed to lay as dark as the parents.

Known for their cold hardiness, Marans do well in cooler climates and maintain a steady laying rate through the seasons. Our line does like to take a break in the warm weather and cooler weather.

Crele Penedesenca
$55.00

Please include any weeks you won’t be able to receive the order.

This is for 6 hatching eggs. If you order more than 6, they will be shipped at different times and you will need to pay an additional shipping fee. Why only 6? My flock isn’t big enough to be able to send a dozen at a time currently. This will change in Summer 2026.

Our Crele Penedesenca are highly regarded for their striking crele plumage and their signature dark chocolate-brown eggs, often finished with a smooth sheen and occasional natural bloom.  Our rooster has the correct carnation comb. These birds are not SOP. We breed for egg color.

Crele Penedesenca are known for their hardiness, active foraging ability, and strong resilience in cooler climates. They are dependable layers throughout much of the year, though like many heritage breeds, they may naturally slow production during periods of extreme heat or shorter winter daylight hours.

Curious what happens when you mix some of the boldest layers in the barnyard? Flock Around and Find Out is our no-rules, full-throttle dozen for adventurous hatchers who love surprises and stunning egg baskets. This mixed dozen includes hatching eggs from our most colorful and productive layers, with genetics pulled from a powerhouse blend of premium breeds.

Expect eggs from a rotation of (only possibility of purebred will be BCM and Crele Penedesenca):

  • Black Copper Marans – known for their deep chocolate brown shells

  • Multigenerational Olive Eggers – producing rich green hues and unexpected bloom patterns

  • Silverudd Blues (formerly Isbars) – famous for their unique mossy green eggs

  • Heavy Bloom Olive layers – for chalky, porcelain finishes with flare

  • Welsummer – loaded with speckles, earthy reds, and terra cotta tones

  • Crele Penedesenca β€” dark chocolate matte finished eggs

  • Ameruacana - these are crossed with a BCM giving a F1 olive egger

These are not purebred linesβ€”they’re intentionally mixed to maximize color diversity, bloom coverage, speckling, and overall beauty. Every egg is a surprise, and every chick is a unique creation you won’t find in a hatchery catalog. This whole line is covered by a heavy bloom black copper marans rooster. If we have extra eggs from our Crele Penedesenca pen, they’ll be labeled.

Eggs will be labeled what offspring will be:

  • F1 - First generation Olive Egger

  • BC1 to BC 3- Backcross olive egger

  • HB - Heavy Bloom Carrier

  • CP - Crele Penedesenca

  • BCM - Black Copper Marans

Whether you’re expanding your rainbow flock, chasing rare egg colors, or just love a little chaos in the incubator, this dozen is your golden ticket.

Warning: Hatching may result in extreme excitement, obsessive color sorting, and a sudden need for more nesting boxes.
